Soumya is a multidisciplinary visual and food designer living and working on the unceded, ancestral lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, near Vancouver, BC, Canada. Soumya is actively working to learn about local food cultures, thinking about existing food literacy and cooking up a visual design practice based on my Guiding Principles for food design.
Along with a Diploma in Fine Arts, she holds a B.Des in Strategic & Visual Branding from Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology, India. She also holds a Masters in Interaction Design from Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Vancouver. Alongside running her own freelance visual design practice for brands like Condè Nast and local food businesses like Röosh, she is a seasoned UI/UX designer with 3+ years of experience in the service industry where she blended her design thinking skills with her expertise in visual design to create innovative and accessible user experiences.
